News from Sue Beal and David Pearson:
Please join us on Friday, November 6th, for the Bennington Community contra dance, with music by Spare Parts & Eric Buddington and calling by Peter Stix.
We're also sad to announce that we will not be continuing the Bennington dance into 2016. There will be this Friday's dance, the December 4 dance with Fern Bradley & Set Americain (an open music jam follows the Dec. dance), and then we will be closing our doors.
We began the dance series 14 years ago, in 2001, with what we thought was a single dance with George Marshall and Wild Asparagus. So many people at that dance asked if we were going to have a monthly dance in Bennington that we decided to do just that. We've loved getting to know so many wonderful dancers, musicians and callers through the years, and seeing the warm community that has grown up around our monthly gatherings. But the challenges and responsibilities of organizing a dance are varied and ongoing, and we have decided it's time for us to lay them down.
So if you are wavering about coming to this week's dance, don't! There are only two more dances to enjoy! Potluck at 6:30, and dancing starts at 7:30 at the One World Conservation Center in Bennington. Please bring a dish to pass and your own utensils. Admission is $10, 1/2 price for 12 and under, those under 6 dance free. For directions or more information, visit our website: www.benningtondance.org.
